Sergal Ship Kits are known for their unique aesthetic and often intricate designs, drawing inspiration from the fictional Sergal race, often depicted with a shark-like or reptilian appearance. These kits, typically resin or styrene plastic, often feature sharp angles, textured surfaces reminiscent of scales or hide, and a generally predatory or aggressive silhouette. Builders are drawn to them for their distinct departure from more traditional spacecraft designs, allowing for creative customization and the creation of truly unique and eye-catching models. The level of detail can vary significantly between different Sergal ship kits, with some focusing on broad shapes and requiring significant builder input for detailing, while others offer highly detailed surfaces and intricate components. Often, the kits encourage creative greebling, the addition of small, often nonsensical details to enhance the visual complexity and realism of the model.
