80′ Elco PT Boat | First Series, 1942. John Kennedy’s PT-109 is the one we all remember, but over 800 PT Boats were built. These sleek and deadly wooden boats served in both the Pacific and Atlantic theaters. Our kit, designed by author and model builder, Dr. Al Ross, portrays a typical 1942 80′ Elco PT Boat. Because of the large number of very small parts and the delicate detailing required, this kit is recommended for intermediate to advanced builders. It should be determined in advance whether to use a gray paint scheme (European theater) or green camouflage (Pacific island hopping) because the construction method involves painting each subassembly before putting the whole boat together. It is important to note that some pictured items may have been built with optional items not included as part of standard kits, such as pedestals, bases, cases, paint, etc. If there are any questions about the contents of a particular kit, please contact Bluejacket.
