New Kit Release! Q Ship Hunter from Amati. Excellent kit for beginners.
Amati has created an excellent representation of a merchant ship, armed as a schooner, mainly used as a collier or bulk cargo ship. The Hunter was built at the beginning of the last century and was firstly owned by the British Merchant Navy. The Royal navy subsequently took over the ship, known for its sailing qualities and transformed it into a Q-Ship when the war broke out. The Hunter was especially fit for the north seas. As with all Q-ships, the Hunter underwent changes at the dockyard of Queenstown, Ireland; hence the name, “Q-ship.”
The Hunter was equipped with false structures that concealed its deck weaponry. The structures could be easily removed and the hidden deck guns could then be used to fire against the enemy (especially submarines).
