Take a leisurely cruise with the King of the Mississippi and its renown paddle steamer wooden model kit. The real steamer was made entirely of wood and was equipped with boilers to move their iconic wheel sales down the Mississippi River. These ships were a wonderful solution to transport passengers and merchandise along the river well into the 20th Century. Steamboats are still in use to this day as pleasure cruisers and tourist attractions.
Steamboats played an important role in the development of the Mississippi River basin and its tributaries allowing a convenient transportation route in both directions of the river. They helped to reduce the vastness of American travel along the river. As ‘theater boats’ they also helped reduced the solitude of the back and forth journey. The river boats weren’t just modernism they were also symbols of romance and dreams!
CONTENTS OF KING OF MISSISSIPPI MODEL SHIP KIT
Build the redesigned 1:80 scale model of the classic King of the Mississippi paddle steamer. This kit uses false keel and frame construction much like the way the actual ship was built.
The model ship kit contains all the parts the modeler needs to build it: 8 sheets of high precision laser-cut plywood boards, birch and basswood planks, veneers and dowels, 2 large photo etched metal sheets (294x156mm and 257×122 mm), including more and more amazing details never seen before. The kit also has die-cast, brass and wood details, fittings, adhesive cloth flags and display base with a nameplate as a bonus.
For the assembly, you will be able to follow Artesania Latina’s complete full colour step-by-step guide on DVD for computers (PC and Mac), accompanied by a whole series of online video-tutorials that show almost the complete assembly process for the King of the Mississippi ship model. No printed instructions are included. You can also download the digital instructions for free on Artesania Latina’s website. Upon completion of the model it measures 25.98” (660 mm) long, 7.55” (192 mm) tall and 5.11” (130 mm) wide.
