Artesania Latina San Francisco II Cross Section

A LITTLE HISTORY OF THE SAN FRANCISCO GALLEON

Construct this incredible cross section of the 16th century Spanish galleon San Francisco II. Galleons were the most powerful ships of the time and the backbone of the Spanish maritime power during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

The galleons appeared towards the middle of the 16th century forming the main nucleus of the Spanish Armada. For almost one hundred and fifty years these ships were par excellence thanks to their combination of great transport capacity and their firepower, which made them ideal for the long oceanic voyages between Spain and the Indies.

Artesania Latina San Francisco II Cross Section Kit Contents

Build your 1:50 scale model of San Francisco II section, the model of the Spanish galleon from the 16th Century. Its method of construction uses false keel and frames a method commonly used in construction of the real Spanish ship. Once it is built, the galleon section measures 4.72” (120mm) long, 26.14” (664mm) high and 12.28” (312mm) wide.

The San Francisco II model kit contains wooden precision laser cut boards, hardwood planking, brass and cast metal fittings and a little display base with a metal name plate. For the instructions you will be able to follow Artesania Latina’s complete full colour step-by-step guide in seven languages on DVD (PC and Mac). The kit does not include printed instructions. You can also download the digital instructions for free from Artesania Latina’s website.

This section will allow you to examine in depth the construction and structure of the galleon, as well as the detail of its three decks.
