Colin Archer – Billing Boats Wooden Ship Kit
Originally called RS 1, the ship was built in 1893 for the “Norwegian Society for Shipwreck Salvage” at the Colin Archer shipyard in Rekkevig near Larvik, Norway. RS 1 was later named “Colin Archer” after its designer and builder.
This is a great kit if you have never tried wooden ship model building before. Note that Billing Boats makes two version of this ship. The larger one is designed as an expert level kit. This beginner-level kit is part of Billing Boats’ 600 series. This series features a hull that is built in two halves, laid flat on each side separately, for easy planking. These models all have a simple construction. But remember: Even the easiest model takes more than one evening to build! The kit includes all necessary fittings and sail cloth.
