Billing Boats Norske Love

The Norske Love was designed by Frederik Michael Krabbe and built in 1765 by the Nyholm shipyard. The ship was initially named after the Norwegian Lion and the Danish-Norwegian Imperial Coat of Arms. All of the ornaments were made by the sculptor C. Moellerup and were reminders of Norway. On the transom, there is a fisherman and farmer, symbolizing the most important trades of Norway, agriculture and fishing.

The Norske Love was a 3 masted warship with a length of 48.93 m, a breadth of 9.70 m, a draught of 5.07 m, and a displacement of 1,076 tons.Her normal crew consisted of 667 men and was armed with 70 cannons. She had mounted 26 cannons (24 pounders) on her lower deck, 26 cannons (18 pounders) on her mid deck and 18 cannons (8 pounders) on her upper deck. The Norske Love was used as a guard ship in Oresund and other Danish waters.
