HISTORY OF AMERICAN SCHOONERS

Schooners are a type of sailboat defined by their rigging. These ships start with a fast hull and to it is added a sail that is also fast with good ability to navigate to windward. They were popular for many purposes, such as transporting cargo and fishing, as well as being widely used by privateers. The Harvey is the new edition of this classic 19th century American schooner.

It is reminiscent of the lines of the old coastal schooners of the 1860s in the United States that should not be missing in your model boat collection.

THE ARTESANIA LATINA HARVEY AMERICAN SCHOONER KIT

The reimagined ship model kit in wood of the Harvey American Schooner is at a 1:60 scale. This new version of the kit has been manufactured since 2022 and it should not be missing from the collection of faithful ship replicas of any naval modeler. Artesania Latina’s fans and enthusiasts have always asked for the kit to come back to their warehouses. The new museum quality replica is aimed at hobbyists with an intermediate level of skills to build this historic scale model.

The modeler will be able to find in this new edition of the kit high quality parts such as precision laser cut plywood, brass and die cast photo-etched metal sheets with decorative pieces, sails of cotton fabric ready to be placed, cotton rigging and, as a gift so that the model is perfectly displayed, a wooden display base with a metal name plate prepared for lighting LEDs (sold separately). With fine details on the deck and 8 cannons.

A DVD for computer (Windows and Mac) is inside the kit with completely redesigned instructions including clarifying step-by-step photos. Printed instructions are not included. The assembled model of the Harvey (22416) measures 26.77” (680mm) long, 19.29” (490mm) tall and 9.84” (250mm) wide.
