BlueJacket USS Gearing (FRAM)
The USS Gearing (DD-710) was a Gearing-class destroyer in the United States Navy. The Gearing-class destroyers were a series of destroyers built during and after World War II. The USS Gearing was named after Rear Admiral Henry Channing Gearing, who served in the U.S. Navy during World War I and World War II.

The USS Gearing was built at the Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine, and was commissioned on November 3, 1945. The ship initially served in the Atlantic Fleet, participating in training exercises and fleet operations. In 1946, the USS Gearing was transferred to the Pacific Fleet, where it served in various roles, including patrolling the waters of the Western Pacific and participating in Cold War operations.

During the Korean War, the USS Gearing was deployed to the Korean Peninsula to provide naval gunfire support and escort duties. The ship also conducted patrols and search and rescue missions in the region. The USS Gearing earned several battle stars for its service during the Korean War.

In the following years, the USS Gearing underwent several modernization and upgrade programs to improve its capabilities and extend its service life. The ship continued to serve in the U.S. Navy, participating in various operations and deployments around the world.

The USS Gearing was eventually decommissioned in 1973 and transferred to the Brazilian Navy, where it was renamed the BNS Pará (D27). The ship served in the Brazilian Navy for several decades before being decommissioned and ultimately scrapped in the early 2000s.
